Who will you be contacting — and who’ll reply?

My name’s Darren. I’m 42, born in Anglesey.

I love exploring the world, learning about different cultures, trying new food, and dogs, who I think are our best friends in life.

After completing a degree in Business and IT, I moved to Manchester, where I spent many years as a General Manager in city centre hotels, bars and restaurants. I’ve worked in fast-paced environments, managed large teams, and learned what it really takes to make a business work day-to-day.

I’m proud to have over 22 years of experience in business management.

I’ve also always run something of my own alongside work. From small ventures to property management to fully-formed businesses, they’ve helped me gain extra income, independence, and a lot of real-life learning along the way.

These days, I work remotely for one of the world’s largest tech companies. It gives me a broad view of how business operates on a global level, but also the freedom to work from anywhere and offer my time to others who are just starting out.

I know what it’s like to have an idea and not know where to begin. I also know how hard it can be to feel taken seriously when you're just starting. That’s why I created RevPaws. You don’t need money, experience, or a polished pitch to get in touch. If you’ve got something you care about, that’s enough.

I don’t believe in jargon, sales talk, or hustle culture. I care about honesty, creativity, and helping people find their feet. If I can help, I will. And yes, I’ll always reply.

What kind of ideas are “good enough”

Any idea that means something to you is worth talking about.
It doesn’t need to be polished or perfect. You don’t need a business plan or pitch deck. If you’ve spotted a gap, had a lightbulb moment, or just want to explore a passion, that’s good enough. I’m interested in helping real people who have real ideas.

What happens when I email?

You’ll get a reply from me directly, no forms, no filters. If it makes sense to chat, we’ll arrange a time for a relaxed conversation, either on the phone, by email, or video call, whatever you’re most comfortable with. There’s no obligation, no sales pitch, and no pressure. Just a real chat to see how I can help.

Concerns I had when I was in your position and, how I got past them

I’m not good enough / my idea’s not ready

Most good ideas start off messy. What matters more than having a perfect plan is having someone who believes in it, and in you. The best businesses I’ve seen didn’t look slick at the start. They just got started.

One of the hotels I managed was founded by a wonderful gentleman who once told me he got excited when he sold his first coffee. That small win gave him the confidence to keep going. From there, his business grew from a simple café to a restaurant, then a bar, and eventually a hotel. I found him incredibly inspiring. It reminded me that you don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to begin.

It’s too good to be true

I get that. There’s a lot of noise out there. I’ve built my own business, made mistakes, and learned how much difference it makes to have support early on. I offer this help because I believe starting a business shouldn’t be lonely, and not everyone has someone in their corner. That’s why I’m here.

I’ll look stupid

Honestly? You won’t. Asking questions, being unsure, or not knowing something is all part of building something new. I still learn things every day. There’s no judgment here, just help.
